Crested Butte, Colorado

Crested Butte is where the pavement gives up. Thirty miles north of Gunnison the road ends at a coal town from 1880 with false-front storefronts painted purple, teal and mustard, and a single peak standing behind it like a tooth. Elk Avenue is the whole downtown. In July the meadows around Gothic go so thick with lupine and columbine that the state legislature named this the Wildflower Capital of Colorado, and in late September Kebler Pass turns into the largest aspen grove in the state, gold in every direction. Winter is quieter, steeper and colder, and the people who stay through it call themselves townies with real pride.

Our Crested Butte collection is built on that single peak. The crewneck carries Mount Crested Butte in a three-color print with a scatter of wildflowers at the base, in the violet and mustard of a July meadow. The tee is simpler, CB in a hand-lettered face with the full town name and the 1880 line beneath, built for the 401 Trail descent and the walk up Elk Avenue afterward. The mug and sticker share the peak-and-flowers artwork.
