Anchorage started in 1914 as a tent city on Ship Creek for the men building the railroad, and it still feels like a city that was set down in the wilderness on purpose. The Chugach Mountains stand right behind the east side of town, Flattop is the most-climbed peak in Alaska because you can be on top an hour after leaving your desk, and moose wander the bike paths like they own them, which they do. In late June the sun barely sets and people mow their lawns at 11 p.m. Then one September morning the first snow dusts the peaks, locals call it termination dust, and everybody knows summer is over.

Our Anchorage collection is drawn from that first dusting. The crewneck carries a bull moose in silhouette against a snow-tipped Chugach ridgeline in deep harbor blue, frost and glacier pale, with the city name set in a sturdy, slightly condensed slab. The tee is lighter, Anchorage over the 1914 line with a single moose, made for the Coastal Trail on a long June evening and the Ship Creek salmon run in July. The mug and sticker share the moose artwork.

Everything is original artwork, printed to order in the USA and shipped with tracking. We make it for the people who stayed through forty winters, for the ones who moved up for one summer job and are still here, and for anyone living Outside who misses the light.

Why we love Anchorage

  • ✦Moose on the bike path is a normal commute report
  • ✦Flattop is the most-climbed mountain in Alaska, and it is in city limits
  • ✦Nineteen hours of daylight in June and people use every one
  • ✦Termination dust on the Chugach is the real first day of fall
  • ✦Salmon run through Ship Creek a few blocks from downtown offices

Best time to go: Late June for 19 hours of daylight and salmon running in Ship Creek downtown; September when termination dust hits the Chugach and the birches go gold.
