Nantucket sits thirty miles out to sea, close enough to catch the ferry from Hyannis and far enough that the fog rolls in like it owns the place, which is how the island got called the Grey Lady. Main Street is still cobblestone, the Whaling Museum keeps the story of the fleet that once lit the world's lamps, and Brant Point Light has been guiding boats into the harbor since 1746. Out past town the roads go to Madaket for sunset, to 'Sconset for the bluff walk and the rose-covered cottages, and to Great Point where the seals outnumber the people.
