Washington, D.C. is a city of neighborhoods that most visitors never see, because the National Mall is right there and it is two miles of monuments, museums and free admission. The Lincoln Memorial at night, the Tidal Basin when the cherry blossoms go off in late March, the Washington Monument lit up over the Reflecting Pool: those are the postcards. The District itself is Rock Creek Park's 1,700 wooded acres running through the middle of town, Georgetown's brick sidewalks and canal, Eastern Market on a Saturday morning, U Street's history and half-smokes, and the four quadrants that start at the Capitol dome and give every address its NW, NE, SW or SE.

Our D.C. collection is drawn for people who say 'the District' and know which quadrant they are in. The crewneck sweatshirt carries a compass-rose badge built on the L'Enfant street grid in federal navy, marble white and a stripe of cherry-blossom pink, with the 1790 founding year worked into the arc. The tee goes cleaner, a WASHINGTON, D.C. wordmark made for a Rock Creek run or a Metro ride to Eastern Market. The mug is for the pre-hearing coffee. The sticker goes on the laptop.

Everything is original artwork, printed to order in the USA and shipped quickly. It is for native Washingtonians who have never lived inside the Beltway bubble, for the people who came for two years and stayed for twenty, and for anyone who left and still cannot explain mambo sauce to their new neighbors.

Why we love Washington, D.C.

  • ✦Every Smithsonian museum on the Mall is free, every day
  • ✦Cherry blossom week on the Tidal Basin is the prettiest thing any capital does
  • ✦Rock Creek Park puts 1,700 acres of woods a Metro stop from downtown
  • ✦The street grid has four quadrants and nobody agrees where Northwest ends

Best time to go: Late March into early April for cherry blossoms on the Tidal Basin; October for Rock Creek foliage and the first sweatshirt nights on a rooftop.
